When creating the SmartSpot.Cloud™ brand, we could not forget about our position in the search results. We decided to focus our efforts on the Polish key phrase "serwisowane strony internetowe" (serviced websites). The technology we use on our own website, i.e. https://www.smartspot.cloud, is a 100% unmodified (for us) SmartSpot.Cloud™ tool, which can work for your company in exactly the same form. So how did we do? How might you do?
After 2 months of work we are in 5th place. Is that good? Is that bad? More on this later in the article.
Our 5th place in the Google search results.

5th place in the Google search results for the smartspot.cloud website for the phrase "serwisowane strony internetowe". As of 05.02.2022.
Is 5th place a good result?
We chose a highly specific and easy-to-remember phrase: serwisowane strony internetowe (serviced websites). The phrase describes exactly what we sell, and 5th place in this context makes us very happy. Especially as our Google position is not the key to our sales. Most of our clients, however, dream of first position, that's obvious. But is it achievable and necessary? Please note that even when you are "first" in the organic search results, the effect of your work is still eaten up by maps or paid Google Ads results.
The real first places in industries with a high level of competition are almost always occupied by paid ads (whether product or text ads). This is worth remembering, because even if we manage to reach a high position in the organic results, we will not break through the glass ceiling - paid ads. We may have no option other than to go into Google Ads campaigns. That is how things stand in highly competitive industries and phrases. But what if there is no such competition, or our phrases are highly specialised? Long? Very individual? Specific? What if we treat our position in the search results as one element of a broader strategy?
This opens the way to genuine: SEO with no fees or surcharges.
SEO at no extra charge
Thanks to the update package offered with our software (included in the purchase price for the first 12 months), you receive a tool that we take care of. We automatically and regularly update all the technical aspects of your website so that in the Google Web Vitals tool (we wrote about it here...) you can score as much as 100/100 points for SEO. That in itself gives you a head start.
At this point, with updates running, you should focus primarily on content. Using marketing know-how and data from Google tools (Google Analytics and Google Search Console are the basics), you should build an appropriate content publishing strategy. With time and copywriting capacity, through the right actions you will be able to look after your position in the search results yourself.
Is that really enough? - It all depends on the choice of strategy. For many years the Google algorithm has been evolving in one direction - ever better and broader analysis of website content. The better the content. The better the quality of the website. The more frequent the updates. The more content published on social media. The more positive interactions. The better we will be rated. For many years, Content has been what matters most to Google.
In your SEO strategy you should focus on topics that have a chance of taking your website to the top. You should definitely also consider other channels for reaching customers, and prepare a marketing mix for your online presence. So as to make use of the best features of all the available channels that suit the brand or product.

What should you bear in mind when assessing SEO?
Times change, and so does the Google algorithm. Once, every user saw the same list of search results. Those days, however, are gone for good. Today Google shows different search results depending on the user (their location, search history, preferences and many other factors). You should always take this into account and not focus only on "your own screen" or a colleague's screen. Today, a position on the list is a far more complex matter. Fortunately, the effects of your work can be averaged out, and the Google Search Console tool is there for exactly that. Good luck!
