If you want to improve the user experience on your website, optimise the quality of the software or simply find out how Google rates your website, then the free tool Google Web Vitals is just for you. Whether you are a marketer, a business owner or a developer, Google Web Vitals helps identify opportunities to optimise and develop your website.
How does Google Web Vitals work?
After running the analysis, we receive data on 4 key indicators:
- Performance
- Accessibility
- Best Practices
- SEO
As of 18.01.2022 it looked as shown in the image below:

It is worth noting that results may differ depending on the "moment". Even two consecutive clicks a dozen or so seconds apart can produce completely different data. Especially for the PERFORMANCE parameter. The biggest influence here is the component of the parameter called Total Blocking Time (which depends on the speed of the server hosting the website).
In the medium term, however, what matters are the changes Google introduces by modifying the weights of the individual component parameters. This means that, to maintain the highest scores, a website must be technically updated often. Although even that may not be enough to achieve the top score, because external factors such as the server speed mentioned above also matter. It is nevertheless worth monitoring this parameter in order to know, for example, how far the hosting you have meets Google's expectations.
In addition, new parameters appear in Google Web Vitals from time to time, which must also be taken into account in the software. One thing that did not exist until recently is, for example, the page speed parameter on a mobile device running on a 3G network. Here, not only the website's software will matter, but also the content we place on it. Popular videos will load considerably longer than pure HTML code or well-compressed images. This will therefore affect the value of the performance parameter.

Google states quite clearly that the data are estimates and may vary. In our case the results of two consecutive tests were 78% and 64%, which gives as much as a 14 percentage point difference within about 30 seconds. However, discrepancies can be far greater and reach even several dozen points!
Performance

Performance 78% - Fast server response

Performance 64% - Slow server response
Performance is a measure of how well and how quickly a website loads. As you can see, with a well-optimised website the results are satisfactory (yellow) even with a slow server response. This is down to a well-optimised and technically up-to-date website. With the SmartSpot.Cloud™ service, technical updates are carried out as part of the service support. With other solutions, updates will most often be charged extra.
Accessibility

Accessibility determines the extent to which a website is accessible and readable. Whether we have chosen the colours of texts, content, etc. well. On our website, as you can see, minor elements need improving.
Best Practices

Best practices tells us whether we are using well-regarded and recommended solutions on the website.
SEO

The SEO parameter determines the quality of a website in terms of search engine optimisation. What matters here is not only the "page code", but also the manner, quantity and quality of the content entered on the website by the administrator. The SmartSpot.Cloud™ system provides, as standard, technical solutions that guarantee a very high value for this statistic, and with it an easier path to a satisfactory position in Google search.
Summary
Use the Google Web Vitals tool as a signpost that can show you what is worth optimising on your website. Be aware that the data you find there change over time and depend on many factors, some of which may be beyond your control. It is worth choosing a technical solution for your website that is regularly updated in line with Google's requirements. One such solution is the SmartSpot.Cloud™ tool, where updates are rolled out automatically. With other solutions, updates will probably also be possible, but implemented manually and usually charged extra. Good luck on your way to a better website!
